The company's principals are rooted in Africa. Papa Balozi (former Ambassador Charles Stith) made his first trip to the continent in 1968 and served as the US envoy to Tanzania from 1998 to 2001. Board member and company treasurer Dr. Mary Mildred Stith is currently based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Percy Stith (right), the company CEO, has been in and out of Africa since 1998. Starting with his initial experience on the African continent, he became intrigued by the African aesthetic. With a New York design background with brands like Sean John, he is currently the owner and creative force behind a boutique hat business based in Santa Fe, NM. Recent clients for his unique headwear designs include Netflix, for the upcoming movie "The Harder they Fall" staring Idris Alba. He was recently featured on the cover of Santa Fean Magazine. Percy brings a wealth of experience working in merchandising, sales, brand management and fashion development.

 

J. Trey Edmondson, the board secretary, has spent extensive time in Africa. He is responsible for logistics, operations and technology.  His roles in business development, operations, sales & marketing have been with BDS Marketing, American Express, Sony Music, and Passages Wines. Trey has also been a consultant to small and independent businesses, providing social media, website and mobile app strategy and development.
